Lockdown Prayer
Father God I shout out to you. I cry out with my own fears. I cry out for a confused world. Hear this!
My heart breaks at the death toll. I don’t understand it. I want it to stop. Grant peace to those who mourn and wisdom to those who lead. Equip me to do my part along the way with a selfless heart. Show me grace in Jesus for this, I won’t manage it.
I stop to acknowledge you are in control. Even though it looks messy and sometimes feels pointless. You are in control.
However big the crisis, however absorbing the distraction; help me to always stay focused on your plans knowing they will come to pass in the end. Lead me on a path toward heaven, make all my steps straight.
Teach me to learn from my experience, fix in my head the lessons of lockdown;
May I always be aware of the vulnerable, thankful for the carers and disturbed by the loo roll fights.
May I continue to have the same earnest heartfelt love for family and friends I can’t see, when I’m able to see them.
Make me continue to value my time, cherish walks through your creation and say hello to my neighbour.
Help me to stop again when I get busy. Teach me what rest really is. Let me know your peace.
Hear my hopes;
I want to stand again with your people. I want to sing again with my church family. I want mourning and crying to cease. I want your ways in this world. I need your hope in my heart.
